Fear+emotions=belief?
« on: February 11, 2012, 11:54:34 PM »
While I was in the hospital several thoughts occured to me. I thought (felt) I was having a heart attack. So to xray I go. They found nothing, said I had a anexity attack. I felt and swore I was having a heart attact. My fear created my anexity. First thought then emotions then belief, I gave both power over me. Feedback please. pl

pljames:  "First thought then emotion then belief",     No; there's no emotion until the thought is believed.
First thought then believe  then emotion.  We all have many thoughts daily we don't believe, but they don't cause emotions , only 'believed' thoughts trigger emotions.
You can feel depressed and say but I'm not thinking depressing thoughts, yes you are, SUBLIMINALLY/COVERTLY. Panic attacks are too many 'distressing' subliminal thoughts being believed.

mad:  Excellent question. Our involuntary is still 'primitive', 'hard-wired' to react to perceptions , even if they are false, artificial, mistaken.
When we 'believe' the images in our mind, those images are reacted to in the same way. Thanks; when I try to tell some people how their involuntary reacts, they don't believe me , but your movie example is the perfect intro to the subject of "mistakenly believing" some of our images are real. ( it's not the conscious mind beliefs as you indicated you did not consciously believe the movie, but your subconscious belief that perceptions are 'infallible', that's the result of "hard-wired' in. Hard-wired has the EFFECT AS IF perceptions are infallible.) Now do you 'see' why it's WHAT you believe is what is changeable, not the hard-wired reactions.

pljames:  Thought + Believe = Emotion/experience
               ....?......  + ....?...... = Emotions/experience  (bad moods all the way to anxiety/panic attacks.)
Many times we are not aware of the thoughts believed; but we still experience the emotions and do 'behaviors' the way we do consciously chosen behavior. This can seem mysterious, but if you understand the "formula", we recognize 'cause and effect'. That's 'psychology'; who else 'works with''cause and effect' when the cause can't be observed? Physicists.
'Matter" is visible as effect of 'invisible energy" (E=mc2). So what are physicists doing so effectively, without seeing the submicroscopic electronic level that allows them to make so many "electronic gadgets"? They 'understand' the unobserved level. What can we learn from them so that we get better quality of life experiences?
When you experience UNpleasant emotions' if you were to think/say; "My brain is creating thoughts, causing these emotions". Would you still take those thoughts SERIOUSLY?
We can only believe/take seriously our thoughts when we FORGET/OVER LOOK we create them.
We can't dismiss real facts, but we 'can' dismiss thoughts we make when we recognize we make em. When we 'mistakenly believe' our thoughts are real, we experience them.
Our brain functions like a slot machine,( literally, not all thoughts are winners either). How many times do,you pull the handle on the slot machine before you get a  'winning combination"?
Evertime we 'mistakenly believe' a thought, we react AS IF it were a 'winner'.  lol ;D ;D ;D

(The slot machine analogy came to me "out of the blue" as an insight, I hope some reader experiences it as a insight also, they realize it's true for them.)

i like this!
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.
