Brain scans in psychotherapy

A new review by Carrig et al. (2009) shows how many psychotherapy outcome studies are now using brain scans as a dependent measure.

This is an exciting development as brain scans will provide more objective measures of the effectiveness of treatments.

Perneczky et al. (2009) used MRI to document a common finding that greater education increases mental functioning at any level of pathology including Alzheimer's Disease (e.g., Bennett et al. 2003).

Krauss et al. (2009) showed that patients diagnosed with Borderling Personality Disorder had a unique patter of MRI results. The pattern was associated with diminished emotional control and impulse regulation commonly seen in this disorder.

What conclusions are you drawing from these journals? How does this impact your understanding of psychology, how does it impact the accepted understanding of psychology, what is the point? We haven't read them, you need to either form an opinion of your own or give more information to those of us who can.

Surely you can't simply be posting these simply to illustrate that scientists are not only using MRI (and the even fancier fMRI scanners!), but indeed also finding stuff out with them?
