Recent changes New Forum Version and designs
« on: June 26, 2011, 10:54:39 AM »
You might have noticed some major changes have taken place to the forum over the last 24 hours.

I had hinted of this previously and finally got round to doing it.

Changes are complete destruction of the old look and layout with a new bluer look and a more modern cleaner interface.

New Psychology Forum Logo. (up at the top of the forum).

I managed to keep most of the useful modifications to the forum in place such as related topics at the end of threads. and verbose URL's

The forum has new layers of spam prevention. (Although this still needs some tweeking)

Video from youtube and numerous other sources for media and video will now auto embed when a link is placed.

The old Psychology Forum twitter account has been reconnected to the forum and you will be able to follow that account on twitter to receive any new topics in your twitter feed.

Follow http://twitter.com/psychologyforum
or @psychologyforum

Guests can now log in and post using their OpenID

Chat/Shout box is not quite done.  (still working on it)

Threads with new posts need some sort of indicator other than the word new.
That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

you cannot delete your own topics. that can only be done by a moderator.

Oh, but I did, notice there's only about 4 of my threads present. I deleted the rest. Was that a "fluke"? There was a icon that read"delete topic".
If I ask you to delete some of my threads , you can do that for me?

what is the point of deleting them unless they are embarrassing or offensive? there are a couple of reasons why not to delete threads.

people find this forum through search engines finding the information that is left on it by our members. all the information you leave brings people who search for particular words. if somebody searches for a sequence of words that you have left they will find your threads and they may want to restart an old thread.

when a thread is deleted the whole thread is gone, all replies from all members to that thread. there may be information in that thread which other people do not want to be deleted. Discussions can be restarted at anytime.

if you change your mind why not add the new infomration to the same thread rather than deleting everybody elses work and restarting new threads that nobody is replying to.

ok   ( I don't have any threads not replied to, even if it's only you; hehe no offence intended.)
