A recurring dream about my ex-girlfrield.
« on: October 08, 2009, 05:21:09 AM »
The dream I had was about my ex-girlfriend. i havnt spoken with my ex in over a year, or her family for that matter, we didn't break up, we were torn from each other, im not gonna get into all the details im just gonna say it was very hard on me and has caused me great stress
this past year, i had not been thinking about this situation for the past couple of days actually, and with time it has slowly gotten better emotionally for me.
enough back story, the dreams goes as follows:
I am in my house. However, it is not my house. It is the house of my ex-girlfriend. In the dream it was hers and her family's house, however in the present time, the house is actually mine. So if you are following me right now, I am in her house(mine in the real world) and we are just hanging out in the family room. The recurring part is that in the dream I am over her house, and scared of her parents(who hate me) coming home. So in the dream I am apprehensive (the other recurring theme). Anyway we're in the family room and shes talking about marriage, and I go to her, what marriage, your parents dont even know I'm going out with you and she told me not worry about that. Then I remember getting nervous and wanting to leave, so I literally ran out of the house to my car, but then someone was calling me back. So I ran back to the house, gave my ex a HUGE kiss and then ran back to my car, when I got into the car I was woken up.

why was it, her house in the dream was my house in real life?
I have not spoken to my ex-girlfriend in over a year and a half, whats up with these dreams? I had another one like this, but did not take place the same way, but operated with her in it and under the anxiety of her parents finding me at their house.

the dream i had like this can be read at this link, idk if it helps at all:

i did not wake up gasping for air this time.

Hello Iskandr,

Consider this perspective: The house suggests the social structure you once shared with your ex.  Your house in reality as her house in the dream suggests how the life you both shared continues to envelop your thoughts.  Most compelling about this dream is that you believe your were driven from this shared commitment by threat rather than any real physical/material social pressure (absence of parents in dream).  This dream appears to suggest your thoughts about how easily you may have relinquished your past relationship.  Perhaps, this dream is about perseverance against social opposition and facing your fears should you find yourself in a similar future social circumstance.  I hope this helps.

I tend to look at both people, you and Xgf as one person with different points of view. Both X's voice and your voice are aspects of yourself.

With that idea look at what both sides are saying. One part of you is a home and the other part doesn't feel at home.

I think you are still trying to get a grips with what has happened. There is no right timing in terms of how quickly or lengthy a situation such as you describe is worked through.

Peace
