There are no good people or bad people.  Just people who do good and bad things.
That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

1 - what kind of a doormat does those 10 things? do you? we just want others to be like that.

2 - there are no such things as good or bad in the first place. If i am poor and steal a loaf of bread to feed my sick child, that makes me a "bad" person?

Think on that for a bit

Add: 10 - Do these things without any expectation or desire of praise or reward.  Do so and you will have an approximate tract of Karma Yoga.  Well, you'll be on the right path towards KY anyways...

i think those rules are quite reasonable depsite being posted by a spammer who got is ass banned.
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.

I would just like to say that there are counterfeits of what might pertain to human goodness. I knew someone who said of herself that she is a "good" and an "honest" person. Yet she is was most judgemental person with a superior attitude on others with a more-than-noticeable toxic backwash after I was with her So, I wonder...if a person can be self-deceived into thinking that they are a good person - when to the observations/feelings of others they are not - then how can you, yourself, judge your own goodness.

In high school I was in a classroom when the teacher asked the philosophical question: "Is man inherently good or inherently bad [evil]?" Some students answered to the former, some to the latter. In my youth, naivety and optimism I remember answering that man was inherently good . Over three decades later and my answer would be neither inherently good or bad - but 'corrupt' - and more than capable of corruption.

If we demand that others are good to us, then we, in empathy are sensitive to being likewise in our behaviour. Having had close association with people with antisocial personality disorder I know that "goodness" can be counterfeited: goodness can be carried out on a superficial level.

What I think a truer judge of whether a person is good or not, is how that person makes you feel when you are with them (sometimes not even when you are in their immediate presence, but later on when you are not with them - time to realise how that person made you feel.)

A truly good person, as far as you as an individual can judge, is that person that makes you feel good/better about yourself and life in general - is an encourager, positive, affirming with a certain graciousness that demands nothing in return.

And if another person says of you "you're a good person" in all sincerity, then could it be that you, yourself, could know somehow that yes, you are a good person.

Therefore I think it's very hard for us as an individual to judge if we, ourselves, are a 'good person'. It's better to hear it from others really. And to judge one's own goodness might be only self-measureable by being obedient to one's own conscience and the heart's good will, which can leave one with a feeling of peacefulness.

Fundamental attribution error (aka correspondence bias) teaches us that we tend to explain others' behavior in terms of personality traits rather than take into account situational factors.  The Milgram experiment and the Stanford prison experiment have shown us that otherwise normal and rational people can commit "evil" acts given the right circumstances.  Human beings are neither good nor bad; we only can do good and bad things.
That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

Enigma, good and bad are just words people use to categorize. What you may consider a "good" thing, may be a "bad" thing for somebody else. Useful and harmful, however, are words which can be used to describe actions more precisely.

Exactly.  They are entirely subjective and unfit to describe us complex and multifaceted human beings.

Yes, I am personally appalled seeing how people categorize personalities and things using generalization. Every person is different, every person has different fingerprints and DNA, why do people insist on generalizing everything and behaving like the category they've been given as if it is a horoscope sign?

in my opinion, we are all at different LEVELS of goodness.

but the truly "good person" is the one that is always striving to be better.

ie one that is always asking themselves

how can I be a better person?
how could I have done this better?
how can I get a better response?
how can I be more loving, compassionate and grateful?
how can I be of better service?
am I the best I can be? can I be better?

these are questions that sets the truly good person apart, so yes, you are partly right. but I believe that everyone stays as "good", its just that there are different levels of it
