Being naked in public
« on: May 09, 2009, 11:44:43 AM »
I several time experienced this dream. I was being naked, walking on street as if it's what I usually do. And the other people seems not disturbed with me. I asked my friend and she said that it might has something to do with my spiritual orientation :) I don't know if being naked has something to do with spiritualism. What do you think?

This dream seems to be about how you present yourself to others and how they perceive you [like or dislike you]. Literally, that you're just comfortable in your own skin, or maybe that you want to be.
In any case it might be useful to analyze your behavior when you're with friends, strangers, an authority, a loved one. Find out if you're saying what you really want, trying to please someone, enjoying socialization. Think about how these people see you [what are you to them, important, irrelevant, useful, fun to be with, annoying?]. AND, do you enjoy them seeing you in this way? Maybe this way you'll get a better picture on how comfortable yourself and others feel with you.

PS: I'm not trying to interpret the dream itself, but getting something useful out of it. Feel free to comment or reply back =].

Being naked could mean that 1) your secrets have been exposed;there is nothing to hide
2) you are better at self-expression than before
in this case, it could be something to do with your self-expression...perhaps, you are more comfortable at expressing yourself and that has improved your relationships with other people...

i am not sure about the spiritual aspect..

The nakedness dream belongs to the class of dreams called “typical dreams,” meaning that almost everyone has such dreams.  In other words, a typical dream is one that deals with a problem that almost everyone experiences.

The nakedness dream deals with the problem of hiding one’s sexual activities from others and dishonestly behaving as if one has no sex life. The dream means: “You dishonestly behave as if you have no sex life, but people know that this is not true. You will be much embarrassed if your sexual activities become apparent. You must find a more honest solution!”

The nakedness dream may also be related, through analogy, to one's non-sexual activities that one is trying to hide from others.

dreams are symbols for what you believe as an indivisual. You must believe something that symbolizes being nakes in public, that only YOU know as you subconciously created the dream in your sleep.

Nakedness dream is a "typical dream," and this means that everyone has this dream. Each typical dream is related to a problem that is the same for everyone and has a general meaning that is the same for everyone. But the conditions under which that problem arises may differ from person to person.

The interpretation of a typical dream needs only to expose its general meaning, i.e., its meaning that is the same for everyone. Each individual can remember the situations in which the problem treated by that dream arises in his or her life.

Moreover, dream language is not symbolic, it is concrete-analogic, or pictorial-metaphoric. A symbol is an abstract concept and therefore cannot be produced or used by the concrete-analogic cognition of the right brain which produces the rapid eye movent dreams.

A symbol can have a different meaning for every person, whereas a dream analogy aquires meaning in the context created by the dreamer's problem treated by the dream and the general function of dreams. But because the general function of dreams is the same for every person, and a typical dream is related to the same problem in every person, an analogy used in a typical dream has the same general meaning for every person. Individual differences are related only to the situations in which that general problem arises in the individual's life and are known only by him or her.
