Can We Access "Evolution" As A Resource/Asset ?
« on: October 25, 2011, 06:42:33 PM »
Before we 'explore' that question ( giving you time to consider your answer) consider the following.
What do you think is in your unconscious? What ever you think is in there are only thoughts in your consciousness at the moment.  :)
You can't see into your unconscious, you infer (consciously think) what you believe is there; potentially accessible to awareness from your thought-system/memory.
Depending how you define "unconscious'.  Internal organs are 'unconscious' to our conscious awareness. So what we think-image is not the referent but only 'symbols' "about" the actual organs.
Sure you know this, but sometimes you forget and react to your 'believed' images as if they were real.
The dictionary defines 'id' as "that part of...."   "Part" it says? Autopsies do not reveal any part or whole IDs. id was a concept asssumed by Freud. If you have a id, its a concept as any other thought in your unconscious.  Accessed and used to explain a process; just like "submicroscope level" is a concept used to explain the effects of what we 'do' see.

"Ego"? Yes it's real, real as a 'cluster/structure of concepts'.    Made of language and you defend it as if it were flesh.   Beliefs are thoughts; not physical appendages.

A reminder: Herein follows written thoughts. The varied reactions are unpredictable.
Religious believers say; " Thy will be done".  Secular folks can say (to their unconscious thinking process) "Thy will be done"; and get more predictable results than religious folks.
We don't have much to say about 'evolution' per se; but rather about the effects we see, just as with gravity, electricity, submicroscopic level, cerebral thinking.
We often don't notice our thoughts, we are 'beguiled' by the effects of believing them. The effects are analogous to symptoms.
Thinking process, as the effect of evolution, still in progress, making us the 'vangard/means' of evolution.
This may seem like a quaint way of thinking, but beliefs have consequences, this kind of thinking  puts us "in the drivers seat". Utilizing thoughts for our 'ends'.
We react to our beliefs; making our beliefs 'stimulant/stimulus' (so why not 'choose' the thoughts to believe rather than by default?).

Do you have perspective on your thoughts or are you immersed in them? Do you recognize the difference? Can you shift as needed?
(Even though I wrote that last paragraph, there was a delay in my recognizing how profound it is. A shift in perspective was required; it's nice to be able to show I "practise what I preach".)

"Do you have perspective ON your thoughts or are you immersed IN them?"
We have the ability to do with thought what the genie did with the bottle; 'go in and out'.
 Ditto with 'ego'/'self-concept'.

When in the thought or in the ego, they act like  a fish bowl; the water filters vision, if the water is cloudy, vision is distorted.
