Chronological Dyslexia
« on: June 08, 2010, 06:21:55 AM »
On an episode of bones, which usually is a very well researched show, a genius physicist  suffered from "A kind of chronological dyslexia that makes it difficult for [him] to accurately place discrete events on a linear time line" I would have just dismissed this as phony but bones is usually  based in some sort of fact. So is inhibited linear memory causing an inability to remember things in order a recognized condition?

Actually, when I heard this, it totally resonated with me.  I don't know if it is an "actual" condition or not, but I definitely have it.  I have always had problems keeping track of events in the past, unless I can actually assign a date (like graduating from nursing school, or 9-11).  Likewise, I have difficulty with future concepts, such as a "five year plan," et al.
When I heard the TV character use this term, I had to write it down, if for no other reason than to have a way to explain myself!

Do not take much stock in what TV shows say about psychology.
