I am having problems understanding the difference between the concious and sub-concious. One is awake the other asleep at different times? I am trying to change all my negative thoughts to positive. pljames

A good technique for that is to suggest to yourself a positive mental change that you wish to enact.  Say it to yourself all of the time.  "I want to be like..."  "I am..."  Positive suggestion works wonders if you can inundate yourself with it constantly throughout the day.  The underlying psychological mechanism is that your subconscious picks up on the routine, and begins acting in ways that are positive toward the change you want to begin.

pljames; pert-5 says; "...if you can inundate....". How big is that "IF"? It must 'work' if pert-5 believes it. Bob Proctor is a millionaire from touting repetition, he says from 90 to 120 days. Geeze!
Go back to your thread of "We create our reality and reality creates our mind", see reply #4 were I wrote; the law of attraction proponents count on repetition, that is 'bombard' your mind in the hope that the image of what you want will "slip" past the conscious sensor to your sub-conscious mind.
Look at the 'Placebo-Effect', you don't have to 'inundate/bombard' your subconscious mind to believe the inert pill is medicine ;D. There is an easier way, and you want to know HOW. Look again at the placebo effect.
