Crying while Dreaming
« on: May 11, 2011, 05:03:49 PM »
I didn't find any threads that relates to sleeping or dreaming anywhere, so I post it here in Gen.Psych.

Anyways, I was wondering (since I woke up today while tears were in my eyes) are there any research or main idea why some people dream and cry at the same time while sleeping? Cuz I don't know if it exist with other people, but this happens to me the second time and I'm straight curious on why does it happen to some people (since I know a friend who had this situation once also) and how does it affect the mind to allow people to feel sad and cry while sleeping and dreaming at the same time.

After I woke up, I didn't feel sad or have any affect towards wanting to cry - since I don't find anything to cry about (neither does my friend when it happens to her last time also), but while I was dreaming it makes me cry with tears and somehow my body feel moved by this reaction while sleeping.

Do anyone know why this is happening or what might be the reason why? :-\
Cuz I don't know if any one of you guys ever had this before. But it's been bugging me this whole time and I'm curious to find out about this problem.

precious fate; Crying is as involuntary as fear, laughing, etc. Our involuntary reacts to images that 'appear' real. So even if you don't remember your dream content, your involuntary reacts to those images, as it does when your awake. The only difference is that when your awake, your involuntary does not react to every image, only to those BELIEVED to be real. Did you ever feel depressed our in a 'low mood' without knowing why? That's like not remembering your dream, some belived images are 'subliminal/covert'.
