Dream: Stuck in the Fishbowl
« on: March 13, 2009, 12:37:05 AM »
Dream:
I am in the backyard of the house I grew up in. There is a large flower pot. Some fish grew in here, they came out of nowhere. They were beautiful like in Finding Nemo. I was so happy about them. But then they started dieing. I was told I had to put them back in the grass. Apparently that was where they originally came from, it was where they belonged. But I didn't know that.  The grass looked like grass but was also a deep pond beneath the blades of grass. I got very sad and stressed and took a plastic cup and retreived the fish one by one. I put them into the lawn/pond. I didn't think it would work but it did. They came to life! It was exciting.

You know how life can sometimes make you feel like you're in a fishbowl? You feel stuck. You feel like you're swimming in circles? I do have that feeling from time to time. I'm about to graduate college. There is incredible pressure to get a job and become a grown up! I have so many ideas about where I want to go in life and am on the verge of pursueing them, no matter how unpractical they are. I think this dream is telling me to get out of the fishbowl! Get back to your roots. Dig deep inside and you will find life. These are  values that I hold and they make sense in light of this dream.

It's amazing what you realize about a dream once you write it down and try to analyze it. I hadn't thought of any of those things until I started writing them!

thanks for sharing that, it is a nice sentiment but with thought provoking insight.
And the  LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as  one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Perhaps your dream means that there are certain aspects of reality that you are in charge of, but to nurture these aspects you must look where you never thought to look.  The grass can sustain the life of a fish!!?

Of course, such dream interpretation is so sullied by others' perspectives that it can become quite spurious.

You interpreted your dream correctly. In reality all dreams carry clear self-protective messages but usually are not understood at concious level. Despite this, dreams influence waking state behavior apparently through the associations of ideas that they cause. This appears to be why dream rehearsal is useful.
