Fight or flight. Need to change it.

Hey people i'm new so i'll start with this.

I'm the type of person who always takes abuse that is thrown at me wether its in work or out of work. People always walk over me and i can't stand up for myself because i get to scared of them, i feel like such a wimp but i wasnt always like this its not as if ive never had a fight or altercation with someone because i have had many, but in the passed 6 years i have become more and more 'flight' to any situation that threatens me and im beginning to show signs of depression from this.

If someone goes to far with me like say for instance they insult me and i go to stick up for myself but then they turn on me i will immediatly back down because of fear, my body seems to shut down into this nervous mess, for years ive tried to come up with answers to why i am such a walk over and ive narrowed it down too confidence and my mind.

When i first looked into the fight or flight response the things that you are expected to experience during this response was right on the nail to what i experience, but my question is how do i go from being 'flight' all the time to 'fight' are there therapy options etc...
