how long would you have to have been working towards a goal for it to be classed as a lifelong goal? just to clarify!
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.

for me a life long goal would be the length of my life ihave not finished that and probably the only goal that i have had since birth has been to stay alive.

I agree 'life long' is a general figure of speech applied to 'ambition' also and to take it literally would be to be pedantic. :-/

Like above I also can not answer your question as you ask experiences. But what I observe is people who want something so badly, will make it happen. They wont wait for it to happen, they will become pro-active and explore all avenues to reach their goal. They will get there any which way and on the way will adapt themselves appropriately to further increase thier chances.
This is why we have such shit politicians, shit entertainment, shit music, talentless celebrities etc.. because they all have 'determination' in common, no talent required!!!

What's your experience of this warmblanket?

Edit: will just add further. My daughter is one of these 'determined' people. She wanted a horse and she's got one (nothing to do with me).. She desperately wants to be a rock star,  and the chances are she probably will be, not because she's talented but because she makes sure she gets what she wants..

When you give up often what you desire comes to you.

Think about it?

I would look into the goal and notice the qualities  and elements of that goal that speak to you or that speak you language.

I have observed in myself as with others that each person is naturally attracted to certain kinds of tasks as if their own personal talents /chemistry is designed to DO certain kinds of work. If you align with those innate talents then you can not give up. all one can do is become what they are.

But, if a person is looking at a title and attempting to fit in a very certain position then the body and mind will tell you ... this is not appropriate, this does not align with  how I need to grow and what direction is needed.

Personally I have discovered many callings in life. so may things tugging for my attention and I had to make decisions as to which ones to put energy to.
So one goal gone is room for another goal. I play it by ear in that I never know what will be next. Life long goals are strict determinants of my life what its meaning is instead of being able to be available for the unexpected and unplanned.
