Help Identify an Experiment/Phenoma.
« on: February 01, 2011, 03:10:08 PM »
Hello,

New to these forums but have been studying psychology for some years and for some reason I can't seem to recall the experimenter or the name of the phenomena that was demonstrated.

Allow me to detail the experiment in very loose detail.  (A few of which may be incorrect, but it'll be something simple such as text color)

Participants were given a book (or booklet, or few pages) with two colored texts inside.  Those sentences written in red were false and those written in green were true.  They made sure you read it by testing you on what was written but the finding was that even though you knew for certain the information was false it still effected your judgment.

Who was the person who did this experiment and what was the phenomena/name of the experiment?

Any help would be appreciated.

If no one knows perhaps there might be an idea of where I could be directed to where there may be more information?

Pretty sure it was Daniel Gilbert.  This what you're looking for?
That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

Yes, that's it!  Gilbert!  The Fundamental Attribution Error, yes!  I knew it was that but for the life of me couldn't find the actual paper that was done.  This should help me tremendously!  Thank you, thank you!
