Help me understand amoralism
« on: October 29, 2009, 03:59:03 PM »
I can't quite grasp the personality traits that come with amoralism. Imagine the case scenario, where a man recovers from a head injury accident, solely with the loss of the moral function part of his brain(the ability to judge between right and wrong), therefore resulting in involuntary amoralism. Now with his capacity of recollection and knowledge still intact, could this person be brought to some obedience by continuously stressing to him his state before the accident and due to his judgement impairment, the requirement for him to comply to those who understand morality, even if to him it may seem irrational and incomprehensible? Would a man with this type of mental conditioning have the capacity to compromise or would he give in to his primitive conditioning and lead a life of indulgence, the way a yet undeveloped child would? Would he forever be immune to morality? Could personality traits vary largely between individuals with the same case? Could a desire for social acceptance play a part?
