irrationality
« on: May 21, 2011, 08:52:23 PM »
How can our mind have a mind of its own? We program it by our experiences and observations. When they say "you are out of your mind" how can that be without drugs? Is it possible for one to program there mind to be totally irrational outside there own mind? Therefore can or does ones mind have a mind of it's own? pljames

it is questionable as to whether we program our mind through our experiences and observations. an alternative theory would be that our observations and experiences are selected for attention by our brain which is operating without conscious intervention and is guided unconsciously by emotion and desire.

in this way the brain may function in such a way as to appear to be out of control but it is really functioning autonomously in accordance with emotion and desire.

just a thought.
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.

The saying;  "your out of your mind" is more commonly used derogatorily. But it can be used as the hightest compliment; referring to Buddha's message;
non-attachment to mind and contents; realizing enlightenment, nirvana, satori.

Because we have our subconciousness that controls our compulsions, which can overwrite our logic and reason.

I think you actually mean "scold," which would be much more thematically appropriate with what you got going on in your signature.  Just sayin'.  :)
