Mind imagines things incorrectly?
« on: August 21, 2011, 10:53:44 AM »
Not sure where to put this, hopefully this is okay.

I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem to this or has heard of this.

When I'm reading a story, I'll imagine it in my mind. Except my mind often imagines it incorrectly and refuses to correct itself. For instance, a character could randomly have an unusually long arm, but it simply won't go back to normal. Usually if the thing bothers me enough, I have to "force" it to be normal. For instance I can't just make the arm be normal, so I'll envision the long arm being chopped off and replaced by a normal arm, or a section of the arm is cut out to make it shorter.

I'm not sure if I described this well enough but I was just wondering what others' thoughts about this might be. I guess it might just be a normal thing but it's kind of bothersome so maybe I can train myself to imagine things properly.

Interesting. I definitely don't think it's a problem; can't really say how "normal" it is though. The imagination is definitely an amazing thing and can be really unique to the individual. I guess I'd ask how often do you think this happens? Also, what kind of feelings do you have when you realize it's not in the right way and you struggle to change it?

Sounds like you have learned to compesate for your own stubbon mind, with a "mirrobox'ish'ly..something" procedure. Many stubbon people can't realize, nor aknowledge their behaviour thus can't compensate for their own stubboness, why they get cought up on very bad situations.

Most human behaviour usually have some start, or are genetic memory, sometimes we can reprogram ourselves either through logic and reason, or suggestion, only very few can do it themselves, else others has to do it.

Try to ask youself why you have such side of yourself which are stubbon, try to find a way to make this side relax and listen to reason, instead of forcing complex problemsolving on it.
