If the child grows into a strong person it will teach independence/self-reliance and integrity of character.  "What doesn't kill one makes one stronger" (to a point).

If the child is not as strong - and I do not mean this to translate to "bad" either - the child could develop psychological problems such as a poor self-image, depression, fear of commitment, anxiety disorders, etc.

Also it may foster serious trust issues.

there is no definites outcomes in such a sitaution.

if you do a quick bit of researching in to the life of Operah Winfrey you might be suprised how traumatic her early life was, yet she has become a huge success in many areas of her life.

i can think of other personal acquaintances who are high achievers that have come from very poor social and economic backgrounds and have turnd their llifes around on the strenght of the thier own determination.

there are also many instance where people how have become unable to cope with even minor challenges in life. the result is drug/ alcohol addiction, mental illness, not reaching their potential.

in between all this is the average person who gets on with there life in avery normal way and has no significant problesm carried over from their childhood.
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.

Strong people turn their negative experiences into a chance to learn and evolve.  Weak people are trapped by their own emotions.

Well, I was neglected by my parents when I was a child. But, I was lucky in the sense that my grandmother took over the parental role. My parents' neglect did affect me initially but, as time went on, I grew up stronger and more determined. I think that if you are determined and stay strong and focused in a positive way, you do succeed in life...with a bonus of inner strength, courage and determination to face things...

It depends a lot on the person and their character / personality, but I think it appears common that the person who was neglected / abandoned by parents or one parent grow up independent and strong (often willful, too). There can be hidden issues with confidence though, as well as a strong need for approval.
