Psychological egoism according to Freud
« on: May 31, 2011, 07:02:19 PM »
Dear all,

What is Freud's view on psychological egoism? Does his discovery of instinctive life make us all egoistic? Or is the 'ego', influenced by the 'superego', an agent that revokes this egoism?

Further, do you perhaps know any works or references of Freud on this particular subject? I have purchased his essay 'on narcissism', but there is too big a difference between narcissism and egoism to retrieve relevant information from it.

Thank you,

Joel

Why Freud? I consider Freud grossly outdated.
