If psychology is why people think what they think then why isn't philosophy a sub discipline instead of the original discipline?  pljames ???

Broadly speaking Psychology is the study of human mind and behaviour while Philosophy is the intellectual investigation of problems. so they are different subject areas.
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.

possibly but problems are not synonomous with psychology. wikipedia will explains what psycholoogy and philosophy are and the difference between them is pretty obvious.
