I seem to remember learning in psychology class that people are more likely to believe in something if they see that others hold the same belief. this effect grows stronger as the number of people who hold this belief rises, and it works even if the belief is false. But I can't remember what this phenomenon is called. Could somebody please tell me?

I thought that this was called the confirmation bias, but now i'm not so sure. If the phenomenon I'm thinking of isn't confirmation bias, then are the two concepts at least closely related? or was I just way off?

i have heard of this phenomena but i am not sure what its called.

i also heard about an experiment a group of psychology students did. they decided to start wearing more red and they would keep coming to class each week with red on until the teacher began to wear red herself. not sure what that is called either but it is some form of conditioning.

another thing done by a group of students to their tutor was to only look at their tutor when he moved to one side of the class, if he moved to the right side they would look away, if he moved to the left side they would pay attention. the students repeated this until they had the teacher stood at the door of the class room where he could not move any further. the teacher of course was not aware of the fact that he was reacting to the bodily cues of his audience. another form of conditioning but i dont know what that is called either.
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.
