Questionably, researchers believe they have demonstrated that belief in God can be explained as a function of intuitive thinking. The study, "Divine Intuition: Cognitive Style Influences Belief in God," was recently reported in a distorted manner under the news title "Belief in God Boils Down to a Gut Feeling." A review was done on the study, "Divine Intuition: Cognitive Style Influences Belief in God," and you can find both the review and a link to the original journal article here: (place http:// before the following) biodeterminism.blogspot.com/2011/09/critical-meditations-on-study-divine.html  You can also Google this search string: biodeterminism What does math skill have to do with faith

If you're interested in either research methods or the psychology of faith, you might find this interesting.

People have defined intuition in many different ways over time. some even say that there are more than one kind of intuition. some claim that intuition is some sort of reasoning process, some say its just a way of perceiving.

I couldnt find how they defined the word, so i dont really find any use for the article. its like claiming that religious people tend to be quite huytha, but not defining what huytha is..

I agree the researcher's concept of intuition as only a first impression "instinct" type of thinking is suspect. More importantly, researchers assume the same intuitive approach to solving a math problem is the same thought process one uses when it comes to belief in God--an inference which can't really be made based on this study. I explain this further at the critique I did on "Divine Intuition: Cognitive Style Influences Belief in God," and you can find another version of the review if you Google the search string: scientism times divine intuition math skill faith

I'd appreciate it if someone allowed to post links could post the actual link to my critique.
