Hello, I am a recent graduate in behavioral science and have found it very interesting to look for signs of developmental conditions in people I see on YouTube. Now, I realize that may come across as judgmental, but I assure you I would never think anything less of anyone with any developmental or mental disorder.
I found this boy on YouTube and wanted to get your opinions regarding whether you see or don't see signs of Asperger Syndrome in him. Why or why not? Thank you so much for your participation in advance.
Some key symptoms of Asperger Syndrome as defined on PubMed:
Asperger syndrome is often considered a high functioning form of autism. Children with Asperger syndrome will present many facts about their subject of interest, but there will seem to be no point or conclusion. They often do not recognize that the other person has lost interest in the topic. People with Asperger do not withdraw from the world in the way that people with autism withdraw. They will often approach other people. They may speak in a monotone, and may not respond to other people's comments or emotions. They may not understand sarcasm or humor, or they may take a figure of speech literally. They may be singled out by other children as "weird" or "strange." Here are a couple videos. I also think it is interesting to see the way he replies to others' comments.
