Car Wreck...
« on: July 06, 2011, 07:45:54 AM »
A few months ago my brother and I were in a car wreck. I was unnecessarily harassed by the police. Ever since then, i'v had terrible fears of riding with other people driving. I there some way to get over it? I know it sounds silly, but it really messed me up. I'v heard that it is supposed to be some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder. I don't think that that is the problem.

Not a disorder, just a perfectly reasonable reaction to a traumatic event.  Exposure therapy can help you get over it.  It involves gradually increasing exposure to the fear inducing stimulus.  In your case, start with riding as a passenger around the block, then to the store, then eventually out of town, etc.
That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
