Low stress
« on: June 03, 2008, 11:40:18 AM »
i was discussing things with my mother last night and we both noticed i tend to fall back into anxiety episodes when i am focusing on myself.

example- when i was in college, with two jobs, etc. i rarely got anxiety. i had one episode for 2 months. and that was it for 4 years. ofcourse i would have the occasional panic attack...but nothing like thinking i was going to time of some catastrophic thing at any moment.

now- i have 8-5 job, my own place, etc. i GET anxiety. it seems like my situation is flipped. less stress actually causes me to think about things. now if im sitting there... i think oh i have this pain on my leg... oh it must be a clot...this clot...is going to my lungs...etc...And then i 'think' my chest is getting tighter and ...boom...the anxiety trail begins.

does anyone else do this? dont get anxious about busy busy times, but more in relaxed scheduled times? and its ALWAYS about my damn health. im 22!

Medically, it has been established that chronic symptoms of anxiety and stress can crumble our body's immune system. Irrespective of the nature of the causes of stress—real or perceived—our subconscious mind reacts with the same body response by releasing stress hormones equal to the degree of our fear, worry or sense of threat. It brings about changes in the body's biochemical state with extra epinephrine and other adrenal steroids such as hydrocortisone in the bloodstream. It also induces increased palpitation and blood pressure in the body with mental manifestations such as anger, fear, worry or aggression. In short, stress creates anomalies in our body's homeostasis. When the extra chemicals in our bloodstream don't get used up or the stress situation persists, it makes our body prone to mental and physical illnesses.
