Strange eating disorder
« on: February 23, 2010, 09:50:10 PM »
Someone posted this at another forum I post at.  Anyone heard of anything like this?

Quote
So i think i have an eating disorder... basically for the last 18-20 months i haven't been able to eat in public without feeling sick and i can never swallow the food in my mouth... like my body won't accept it or something so when i just try and force it down it comes straight back up (along with anything else i've eaten that day).

Only in public though, i can eat like a normal person when i'm at home. But if everything is the same (same food/same people etc) i can eat that... and just that, like for lunch i can eat an apple and most of a sausage roll before i feel too sick and full, but if theres one extra person there i can't eat anything which makes it hard for me to do anything really.

My friend thinks i have something called bullimia but i'm not sure because she said its when you make yourself sick, and i've never made myself sick. I'm not asking anyone to diagnose me so inb4 is not your doctor... because i'm going see if theres anyone who can help at my college tomorrow and if not i'm going straight to the doctors.

So i was just wondering if you have any advice on what to ask the doctor and if anything like this happened with any of you. Thanks.

EDIT: about 6 months ago i weighed 8 stone 9

then around December i was 8 stone 6, then went to 8 stone 2 in 2 weeks because of this

Definitely not bulimia.

this is not anorexia or bulimia. Most likely this is a form of anxiety. You will need to understand if the history of this problem what stess or worries were around whenthis began. Also what thoughts and behaviors are maintaining this now.
And the  LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as  one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
