I had emotional eating problem in the sense that I overate last time. To overcome the eating problem, I think that I had to acknowledge my weight problem and how my emotions were inducing me to overeat. After that, it is a matter of taking action actions to reduce my weight.

I've seen those people overeating because of depression. Mine is the other way around. If you don't want to gain weight because of emotional eating try to relax yourself first before eating don't bring up those bad things happened to you while you're eating. So that you can eat like you normally do.

If we do not  eat  too  much  when  we  are subject  to  depress ,I  believe  it is OK  to eat  in order to get  rid  of  the  bad  emotions.Yeah, we  should  have the ability of control ourselves.

I emotionally eat, but I also emotionally exercise so it works out well, plus my over thinking burns a good amount of calories.

Sex.  Burns calories and is a much healthier and funner expression of emotions.
