The United Kingdom has the mental health act 1983 to define the legal aspects of mental health. This sets out the responsibility of the state to protect people with mental health problems who are considered a danger to themselves or others from harming themselves or others. It would be interesting to know what laws and legislation pertai to mental health in other parts of the world.
