Is This Truly Healthy?
« on: July 16, 2008, 08:53:54 PM »
I was talking to my beautician who is a deep Christian.  She was stunned to fin out that I was not.  I guess most Afro-Americans assume that all Afro-Americans are Christian.  I shared with her that I found too many things taught in Christianity to be unhealthy, at best, and abusive, in reality.

I find the genesis story to be one an instance of institutionalized abuse, with Eve being the offending party in that whole garden of eden tale.

How truly healthy is it to teach people that one segment of society is responsible for the hardships of all?

I am not the one to really answer that question but wanted to state that this is one of the reasons that I am a believer but do not actually follow a religion. I think as the years have passed that there have been a lot of interpretations of the Bible and its meaning and I am not comfortable living by any one persons interpretation. If I am to live and follow I would much rather it be off my own set of interpretations and beliefs.

Ciao ,Diana , I must say your views are quite...original, I have heard many interpretations about what really happened in Eden , however never that Eve was abused :)))))))  Lol.
And what  do you think has actually  happened in Eden? Where was and where is Eden now ?
Do you think that Eden was on this Earth ?

This is not healthy at all. There are many aspects of christianity that are not healthy. However this type of indoctrination is not limited to Christianity. There are many examples of the use of division and segregation as mean of establishing authority and control.

There are strange social dynamics that I see take place, between people who have religious faith and people who have an anti-theist faith.

It seems that each has to proclaim the validity of their own faith and condemn and invalidate the other faith.

What makes this so? What maketh people blind to the speck in thine own eye?

haha
If you say "thine own eye" quick it sounds like a chinese phrase.
