POEM: Big Hat

I held you and held your hair
In my hands...
And I didn't speak
And you went off on your mission

In my darkest hour
I looked for you
And you were my lover
And we smoked pot
I really missed...
Lover, lover, lover
Tight, you are so tight, so tight

My eyes well up with sand
And I think of you
I can only imagine,
Only tell,
That you are happy
The world is a cruel mistress.

Light, light, light
I wanted to know
Wanted to see
What you were doing
Who you were with
And all of these times
I stepped too far
And pushed you away

My mind was eggshell fragile
And needed to be erased
And I loved you
But I didn't speak

Can’t find the words

I didn’t know how to say it,
So I thought I’d buy some words,
I went to the corner shop,
It was a pet shop and I was sold a bird.
I went to the grocers and asked for a word,
But they said “What about” and “Come back later”,
So I left having bought a large potato.
I went to the next shop it was a drug store,
I said I needed a word or maybe more,
They said they were all out and hadn’t any in,
But they could still help and sold me medicine.
Next I went in to the pie shop,
And asked if they sold words,
“Whatever do you want them for, they’ll never be heard,
instead I recommend you eat, this pie is of the finest meat”
So I left the shop with a pie in hand,
And I didn’t quite understand,
Why I had a bird and a potato, medicine and a pie,
When all I had wanted was to say something like..
But I’m still not able,
Because the words I want just aren’t available.
