Society and Culture is it good or bad?

i was thinking about our society, and this question has been something that i have pondered for along time.

is the essence of our society or culture good or bad. i cannot make my mind up about this there are so many things in our society which have a detrimental effect on the progress of humanity. there are also so many opportunities for people to progress and adavance themselves in a mulltitude of ways.

i dont want to say any more just yet.. what do other people think..

Such a broad topic, Stan.  I have many thoughts already swimming through my mind.  I'll have to ponder this and come back at a later time.  For now, here are some brainstorming issues I have:

Sexual assault awareness - so many false myths concerning sexual assault.  Ignorance is high in this area.
Violence against children - child abuse, neglect, molestation, rape, murder, etc.  Laws, policies, all that work and don't work.
Childhood obesity - adult influence on lifestyle and eating habits
Sex - so often used in advertising and entertainment, what are we really learning?

i have to agree with you Cecile this is a massive topic. this is why i have refrained from ranting on in the first post. when i try to think about this, i get myself confused with it all.

there are also issues of faith that arise for the religious.
