tattoo removal
« on: May 31, 2008, 12:46:04 PM »
I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not but I was wondering if anyone has had experience with laser tattoo removal?

I am very interested in having it done and have a consultation scheduled for Monday. I have heard mixed reviews and need to decide what to do.

Any stories, advice, etc would be appreciated!!

I am not quite sure how this relates to mental health unless you are wanting the mental process one goes through when deciding to get a tattoo removed.

It can happen for various reasons such as a spouse disliking it and pressuring you to get it removed, you could mature and see it as childish or even just not want to associate with what the tattoo stands for. The pressure to get a tattoo or to remove a tattoo can be much more than the possible pain involved in the process.

Probably its the pain part, which is of concern to you...

Although i havent had one on my body, but read it somewhere that removing a tattoo is a painful procedure. If i would have been you, i will find all the information that i can about the place i am having it done from...

If there is something else that you are curious about, feel free to ask.....Although i might be able to answer, yet will try to give my best efforts... :)

Laser tattoo removal is best choice, as it is painless when treated by experts. Lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This laser energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment into smaller particles that are then easily removed by the body's immune system. The laser selectively targets the pigment of the tattoo without damaging the surrounding skin.

But most probably you already know that, as I have just seen that you posted more than 3 months ago. How was the treatment? Do you have any advises for "beginners"?
