What are some essential reading to get started? Who are some of the most influential figures?

Is there really nothing that anyone who has read this post can recommend? That seems hard to believe. Is just posting a question like this to start with frowned upon or something?

 I'm really just looking at some starting point so any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

your post has only been viewed 23 times. i guess a number of those times was by your self and i viewed it 2 times. so there is not many people that have read your question yet.

it might help if you include the whole question in the post rather than putting half the question in the title and the other half in the post. also if you include a bit more information about your question that might help people to take an interest in your post.
