This may seem out of the blue, but I came across this forum and thought it might be a good resource for a question.

My brother had a PhD in clinical psychology and recently passed away leaving me all of his possesions, much of it being books in his field.

There are of course textbooks and references, as well as lots of books, papers and magazines dealing with specific subjects.

Every thing is cataloged, I estimate there are over 500 books

My question, can you point me to a organization or website that could assist me in doing something good with these books?

I would gladly donate if they could help some one else.

I doubt if any library would be interested, but if there were an individual, student or small group that would benefit then it would be much more beneficial than disposal.

I'd check with the psych department of your local colleges.

I'm not sure if it's ethical to ask this, and it's probably a little late, but I would be interested in seeing the catalogue if it's in a digital format. It's always interesting to know what books and references other people are using, and you don't really get a chance to see whole libraries listed.

Do you know what he wrote about?

Put it on Ebay! If you don't want the money then donate that.
Also check with other relatives. When some of my relatives died a lot of stuff was thrown out or given away before myself or other relatives even found out it was avalible. When my wife died the same thing happened. Some of her more distant relatives asked for things months after she passed and I had already given them to charity.
