Would You do this course?
« on: March 05, 2011, 10:15:03 AM »
Hi All,

New to the forum and loving it so far.

Im trying to break into psychology and make a career from it.

I have a background in NLP and some hypnosis which i studied for pleasure.

I have made the decision that I want to use my life to help others.

I have a baby due in a few weeks so dropping work to study full time really isnt an option at the moment!

I was thinking of the Open University?

This course in particualr - BSc (Honours) Psychology - Done throught the open university (sorry, cant post a link!)

Can any you tell me if this is the best place to start??

Thanks.

Mark

Hi Mark,

The open university course is a good enough course to get you registered with BPS (British Psychological Society).

What you do from there is another matter.  as odd as this might seem doing a psychology degree wont qualify you to help people.

counselling, CBT, psychotherapy or mental health nursing are much better routes of study if you are wanting to help people.

If you want to be employed then psychology is the most difficult route to go mental health nursing has the most job vacancies and career development opportunities.

Counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and CBT are good otpions if you want to work for yourself.

it is not an easy field to make a living but it is a very rewarding field if you are interested in people and care about the welfare of others.
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.
