I am beginning to understand psychology a little better.

It would seem understand another persons thoughts points toward analytics. A order or method of how the other persons mind works. Be it common sense common logic or rational reasoning (according to them) can also be scrambled into what they believe is true. I use the phrase (what you believe I might not)? Words like truth absolute just bring more doubt or questions to the argument or method of compromise.

Could a parable be used as a point to make the other person think that there might be another answer instead of what they might believe? Not to persuade or argue but to bring to mind either multiple thoughts to consider over the present one that concreted  within their mind (see Visual Thesaurus.com). pljames

using the socratic method of questioning might be useful way of getting the other person to spot alternative ways of thinking. i have post some were about distortion, deletion and generalisation if you can identify which of these filters is being applied you can phrase a quesstion in such a way that it exposes the filter and allows the person to see through their filtering.
The so-called miraculous powers of a great master are a natural accompaniment to his exact understanding of subtle laws that operate in the inner cosmos of consciousness.

If the person does not want to recognize the problem/s then again using the filters change the persons thoughts to why questions challenging the person to rethink their thought/s? pljames
