Hi,

I am currently writing my Master's Thesis in psychology. In my thesis I study the psychodynamic interpersonal relations between a promoted individual and the group that the promoted individual used to belong to.

During my initial research phase I have tried to gain an overview of how the different academic fields of study attend to the field of internal recruitment/promotion of employees.

From what I have found, management literature on (internal) recruitment traditionally focus on three phases; recruitment, selection, and inclusion of new employees. I find that most references to psychology within these phases are about how to test and evaluate applicants, conduct job interviews, and make sure that the individual fits into the overall culture of the organization. What I am looking for is literature on considerations regarding the psychodynamic effects between a promoted employee and the group he/she is externalized to due to the promotion.

In short; my question is:
Are there any specific field of study within management/HRM/organizational psychology that has a specific focus on the interpersonal relations and consequences of internal recruitment/promotion of employees?


Any references to literature, studies, relevant academic keywords, or the like, will be much appreciated.
