I've been pretty much against internet relationships, but only because of the amount of hurt they can cause for the people involved. You never know if you can trust the other to be loyal to you, and lack of trust can affect the relationship.
However, I am currently in one of my own :S to a girl who lives about 5 hours away from me. We have never met, but we wish to. I don't try and be somebody I'm not when I talk to her, and I hope she doesn't to me.

There are many advantages to them, along with disadvantages. Overall, real life ones are best.

I've noticed, however, online ones will allow people to ignore small cosmetic flaws that can ruin something great through nothing more than the person's shallowness.

Well, best of luck in your relationship.  ;)If you mean 5 hours away by car, then, it is not too bad.  :)

Thanks liza123. :)

And Karaten, I agree with what you say about people's shallowness. It's things like that that stop people from becoming friends in the "real world" as some people call it.
Ignore the email LOL. I'm using my sisters cause I haven't got one...I really need to get one sorted out.

I have always found internet relationships fascinating. They give me a different perspective of the people I meet. Since I am an extremely curious person by nature, I have always made sure I met each and every one of the people that I talked to online in person. The difference between the person online and the one sitting across the table was mind blowing!
Out of all those encounters, I have come across one that changed the course of my life. We were living 5000 miles away from each other and the first time we talked, we both sensed an incredible connection to each other. It was as though we had known each other for a long long time. The first day on the phone, we talked for 12 hours and every day after that for a whole month. When we were not on the phone, we'd be on sending text messages or chatting on the webcam - it was plain crazy, but we both felt compelled to keep going. Finally, the curiosity got the better of me, I just had to see whether or not he was the same in person. So, I hopped on the plane and traveled the 5000 miles to meet him. It was love at first sight (not quite the first sight exactly, since we had already seen each other, but you know what I mean...).
I stayed with him for three days - we spent every minute of them together. Then I flew back, and the relationship got even more intense. Eight months later, I was packing my bags to move to his hometown.  I lived with him for a whole year, but I had to come back to my city to continue my education and pick up my home business project where I left off. He came back with me and since then we got married, still crazy in love and happy as clams, lol.

Thinking back, I think I was searching for that one person who really understood me, as weird as I am. I found him now and in many ways we complement each other. He has Bipolar disorder and there are times it gets hard, but he is the most amazing person in the whole Universe. And guess what, since we've met, I am no curious about studying people on the Internet anymore...go figure.  ;D

I am glad that your relationship worked out BlueChld, most don't. :D You are very lucky.
Unfortunately, me and my girlfriend broke up. We just found the distance too difficult, because it would cost too much for us to visit each other and seeing as we're both pretty young, we can't realy afford it.
