Social programming
« on: January 29, 2012, 04:23:08 AM »
:)  I am beginning to believe we are programed by our parents family friends and the medium plus society as a whole, to believe what they want us to believe, until we question them. We are deluded by information (be it right or wrong) and then forced to search for (truth). We seem to accept societies bias's as truth until we question them. Truth comes in many ways (as does lies). Does our understanding of the word (morals) play a factor in our psychological search for truth? pljames

I don't know what you mean by understanding of the word? So I won't take it on. But I think that you're not really asking a question, I think that it is a statement, and a valid one.

We have to have a set of intrinsic boundaries and drives, we must limit ourselves(be it in social relations; bias: to choose one group or person over the other) in this vastly diversified world. Social programming is essential. How could I approach a person, if my outer characteristics weren't somehow a giveway of who I am. We are instinctive beings and impulsive beings, we jump to conclusions.

I believe truly that morals are very, very important. There's no denying that morals are bendable, as they bend further and further, what's once seemed wrong, evil, perverse, corrupt, depraved, will become commonplace. The more one sees something, perhaps, disgusting, one experiences less outrage as the repetition goes.

Thoughts?

Words have synonyms which synonym did the writer pick as he saw it? Does the word moral have more than one meaning? Does the word order or disorder. We all perceive our understanding of our language be it German or English.

What is truth life mean to you? My truth your truth who's truth? As chikdren we believe as adults we question...Why? pl

When you put "morals" in parenthesis and had "the word" in front, I thought you might have meant the bible, which is sometimes referred to as "the word" or "the true word".

What is truth? Truth is a loose term with no true objective meaning. We need to have something graspable, something to feel and hold in our hands, I believe it's called being grounded or sane. All things one experience and perceive give cause for uncertainty, but to be able to move on and live, we must make choices and that means limiting ourselves to our own "truths", like I'm a good singer or I should become a lawyer, when we know by pure logic that there are a lot more options to choose from. Well one might say that one prefers being a lawyer, but there are always other things a person likes. But to be able to move on, you must limit yourself.

Children believe and adults question? Children have a different way of dealing with reality. Everything comes off as direct. When a childs parent states something then there isn't an alternative, the child has only one source of information. I believe it is the intimate relationship between child and parent mixed with an undeveloped brain and the isolated mindset of a child, which makes a child believe.

What is the alternative to believing, it is not believing, and as I mentioned earlier, a person need solid ground. A child believes, but so does the adult. We are all believers for we must be or else life is like mathematics.
